I attempted to install a tear off for the Nats last year and it was a pain. Once I got it done I did not like looking through it. So I took it off.

Buyer beware.

JRichard OFFLINE Senior Racer Posts: 107	Charlie, what was the issue? I've seen them on a few cups a local shop did looked good, was it the install or the material? I've been told they ony really work on a new peice of glass any pits or scratches and your wasting $$$... Thx

This was on a new glass windsheild. It may have been material or maybe it was just me. It was not as clear as glass and to me was distracting.
Very difficult to get to lay down flat.
I would have to see the lexan that is pre-done to see if it would work for me.

My difference was 6 lbs windshield only, but my center brace is aluminum and weighs less than one lb. Maybe 5lbs total difference?

The tear offs of the take off windshields that I got were perfect clarity - no distortion, no bubbles. When I lift up a corner to put my season tech sticker under it, I couldn't get it down again w/o bubbles. & distortion. Fortunately, that area is out of the visible area of the windshields.
