Hi All,

I'm looking into investing in data logging. As you all know, we only get the on/off style TPS in the N/A 944 (right?!). Having a potentiometer-style sensor to feed data would be ideal.

Has anyone looked into doing this? I'm of course not going to alter how the DME is fed data (not sure that the N/A DME would even know what to do with a variable signal -probably nothing good!).

Just curious how you all have approached this. Am I wrong?

FWIW, looking at a Race Technology system - we have a local expert on that system who can help me with setup. Doing my own research before contacting him.

I took a Chevy Silverado TPS and mounted that onto a piece of sheetmetal above the current throttlebody shaft. I then made up an extension of the TB shaft that hooks into the flats of the current TB shaft, and fits into the hole in the TPS switch.

I then wired it up to a 5V supply and took the voltage off the wiper arm and use that to record my throttle position.

I'll see if I can get a picture or two up.

I am using a surplus string potentiometer that connects to the throttle.

Thank you both for the ideas! I'm starting to get an idea of how this can work. Any photos? Part numbers or suppliers for the TPS or string potentiometer?

I'll take some pictures when I get home.

I used a 2000 Chevy Silverado TPS, but you can use any one that is similar.

I bought the connector for the TPS from Oreilly's as well.
