TOPIC: Is it worth it??...

Is it worth it??... 6 years, 8 months ago #22030

The debate continues...

I have a manual running '83 with fair body and a decent condition '86 but it's a auto.

The question; Is it worth the hassle of swapping the '83 drive-line into the '86 chassis? Is it safe to assume all the chassis's had provisions for each?

Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

The Chassis itself is nearly identical independent of the year. As someone mentioned, the nose front is welded on the 83, but not the 86. Auto vs Manual shouldn't be any different as far as mounting points, etc. Torque tube is different and would need to be swapped.

As far as effort, you could go either way. You could even swap the 86 suspension to the 83. I would use the 86, but as I said at the race, everyone will have their own opinion and they will all differ!!!
