Just checking if I'm following this thread correctly.
I have had .020" or .508mm shaved from my head and should be fine on compression with a new stock head gasket?
One other question; my cam tower gasket looks fine and isn't very old so can I reuse it?
Thanks,
Lee

it should be fine but oil leaks from the cam tower are common so i would say newer is better.

Thanks Chuck. Upon inspection as I was getting ready to intall the shaved head I hoticed a rough looking hole inside the block between the #2 and #1 cylinder sleeve. Is this a hole to feed water into the stock oil cooler unit? I added water and it does drain via coolant hose. I don't remember seeing this hole before and I don't want to reassemble if I damged the block somehow when I overheated it. The oil and water mixed but only after I shut it down with no rod knocking.
Thanks,
Lee

Turns out it is the oil cooler inlet. Head is on and am working on the rest of the reassembly and flushing. Then hopefully it's down to the detail stuff before nationals!
