Same here. One of the two 139 HP motors I've seen, and one 138 HP motor (just dyno'd two weeks ago), were low compression motors, FWIW. These are my observations only, not a rules change proposal...

Years ago I heard rumors of a 142 hp dyno. Never could confirm the number nor validate 100% which car it was and if the car was 100% perfect. That was in the days of free chips and headers. I believe there was a chip in place as most guys ran them. However headers were not the headers we targeting with rule change a few years ago. Also chip was standard off the shelf type as Az never got any "custom" ones.

That is the most I have any information on a 944 spec car.

The most I saw directly was a 138 hp chart. It was 138 hp peak, but my 131 hp dyno chart showed more hp from 4500 to 5500 rpm. That motor only made power at the peak. Again chips were legal back then. I think I have that chart listed along with my old dyno listing.

I should clarify - the one 139 HP motor was not someone I know well. The other was Bill Comat's low compression, shaved head motor at Nationals in 2007. I won with "only" 137 HP

I believe that my car dynoed at Miller this year from 136-142 HP in 944Spec and GTS trim. I had a custom chip for GTS but decided not to use it since it would have required me to add weight. It did show a 2 hp increase over the stock chip.

There did not ever seem to be any consistent readings from the dyno at Miller. Much like the results from the Traqmate.

Last year at Miller my old car dynoed at 138hp. It did dyno twice at the same number but as low as 132.

And then again you have peak vs maintained HP. If the dyno sheet has lots of squiggles then you can get false high readings.

There is a possible additional 5 hp to be gained on a dyno just by changing to qualifying oils. You can shot peen and cyrogenically treat the trans gears to reduce drag. New wheel bearings with lighter grease, making sure your brake pads do not touch the rotors, coating the cylinder walls to reduce drag all things that have been done in an effort to make HP or reduce drag (same effect). Some legal some not. The SM guys can tell you all about it.

In a perfect world I think we will see 145rwhp. And this may come out of a shop for $5,000 or a garage for $1,200. We have no way to really compare a car on the east coast to one on the west. Two different dynos will give two different results.

No way to set a max HP number without spending more money. And again the West Regions are not having an issue with this.

This is a NON-PROBLEM.
