TOPIC: Racing Seat Preference

Re: Racing Seat Preference 14 years ago #9016

I have a full containment Sparco seat, and got used to it pretty quickly. I imagine it's quite a bit more comfortable than what your used to.

Cool Avatar!

Isn't Karl at Applied Racing Technology down there? Haven't heard from him for a while, but he was building a 944 at one point in his shop.

Well I just got an email from Mitch, (the previous owner) and he said the seat mounts are attached to the floorpan, so I'll have to get those out and get them attached to the tunnel.

If anyone has a link to a pic of the mounts attached to the tunnel, that will help me out a lot.

Cheers,
Ryan

Hi, Ryan. I usually do something like this. You can read a brief writeup and see more pics on my Facebook page:

Thanks Hank, that was helpful to see. I don't suppose you pre-fab those?

I've tried, but there are subtle differences in floor pans (early/late, 924s/944). Also, many floors are bowed in or out from bottoming-out or just wear and tear. So, it's difficult to make a weld-in kit that will fit as well as I'd like without making the installer do much modification. I can make a kit that will fit my 944 mock-up car, but that's about as close as I can get to a universal fit.

That's what I was afraid of. Well I'll just add this to the list of things I need to get done to the car.

Do you recommend anyone in the Dallas/Ft Worth area?

Thanks again for the help.
